The 2027 Ford Explorer is a three-row midsize SUV offered in five models: Active, ST-Line, Tremor®, Platinum™ and ST. They share a platform and a 10-speed automatic, but they are aimed at genuinely different buyers.

3.0L twin-turbo EcoBoost® V6. Standard on ST and available on Tremor and Platinum, producing 415 lb.-ft. of torque. It is the engine to spec if you tow near the limit regularly or want the ST's performance character. [4]
Worth knowing if you are buying in Maryland, Pennsylvania or Delaware. All three states require the 50-State Emissions System as standard equipment. On vehicles built with that system and the 3.0L EcoBoost®, Ford rates output at 385 horsepower on Tremor and ST models and 383 horsepower on Platinum, rather than the 400 horsepower quoted for federal-emissions states.
